Neuroscience Cafe is a lecture series provided by UAB's Comprehensive Neuroscience Center in partnership with the Emmet O'Neal Library.
This month's program will be led by Ceren Yarar-Fisher, PT, Ph.D. She will be speaking on the effects of a Keto diet on the brain. Dr. Yarar-Fisher received her B.S. degree in Physical Therapy from Baskent University in Turkey and her PhD in Neuromechanics at Auburn University. Following her PhD, she joined the UAB Nutrition and Obesity Research Center in the Department of Cell, Developmental, and Integrative Biology as an NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow. She worked under the primary mentorship of Dr. Marcas Bamman in the Core Muscle Research Laboratory where she carried out research projects investigating the effects neuromuscular electrical stimulation and high protein diet on skeletal muscle biology and metabolic health in individuals with chronic SCI.
