This month the library's book group, The Bookies will be discussing Richard Hughes' novel A High Wind In Jamaica. In conjunction with that meeting, we will be watching the 1965 film based on the novel.
A High Wind in Jamaica, by the early 20th century Welsh writer Richard Hughes, is set in the late nineteenth century and follows a group of children captured by pirates on a voyage from Jamaica. A critical success as well as a bestseller in Britain, it was awarded the Prix Femina Vie-Heureuse in 1932.
