Rob Angus and Andy Meginnis will join us today for a talk "All about Dulcimers."
Rob will give a short talk with slides about the history of the instrument and then play some music - Rob on dulcimer, Andy on guitar and vocals.
This afternoon's presentation will be a real treat, don't miss it!
Veteran performer Andy Meginniss has been a part of the Birmingham music scene since 1970.
He has played with a number of groups including The Front Porch String Band and The Herb
Trotman Band, and is currently a member of Three on a String, Rosewood, and the ARK Trio.
He also directs the music for the evening service at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. In 2011, he
was elected to the Alabama Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.
Rob Angus has been playing stringed instruments since the 1960’s and dulcimers (both mountain
and hammered) since the 1980’s. He has performed for concerts, weddings, receptions, parties,
retirement homes, dulcimer festivals, etc. both solo and with others. His former trio, After Class,
produced six albums. He currently performs with ARK Trio, Over the Hillbillies bluegrass band,
and The Sparklers old time dance band. Rob has taught workshops on both hammered and
mountain dulcimer at numerous festivals and has given private lessons for more than 20 years.
