Attendees will learn about the prevalence of dyslexia & participate in simulation exercises so they can understand how it feels like to live with learning differences.
October is National Dyslexia Awareness Month and the O'Neal Library and Spring Valley School will be partnering to raise awareness about dyslexia and other learning issues.
Tonight's program is the 1st of a two part series led by credentialed educators in dyslexia intervention. The program will allow audience members to experience the frustrating emotions of dyslexia firsthand through realistic simulation exercises.
We will also discuss the prevalence of dyslexia and its creative advantages. Speakers will introduce us to the science behind reading and how it is used to combat literacy issues. We will also explore available resources for families managing dyslexia and will end the evening with a Q&A session.
The 2nd program will be on Thursday, October 26 from 6-7:30. You can read about and register for that program here. If you have questions about tonight's program, please contact Katie Moellering at 205-445-1118 or kmoellering@oneallibrary.org
