The O'Neal Library Teen Advisory Board is a volunteer organization of students in grades 7-12 who want to contribute to the improvement of Mountain Brook's library. TAB member benefits include free food, service hours, memorable events, internship opportunities, and more!
We will discuss the following topics on April 29:
- Exam Breaks prep: share destress activities, snack suggestions, and ideal study spaces and setup.
- Summer Reading Prizes: what should we give away to our teen summer winners?
- Summer Reading Marketing: how do you learn about library events? Do you check the O'Neal Library website and calendars? Do your parents tell you about events? Do you see/hear about it at school?
- TAB Summer Meetings and agenda topics
- Dinner & Hangout at 5:30-6:00PM.
We will discuss the following topics on May 6:
- TAB in Review: complete the 2023-2024 survey on Teen Advisory Board! How can we improve TAB: a more structured meeting agenda, more or less notification channels, hybrid engagement activities, more team-building opportunities? What topics do you want to discuss and focus on during the next school year? How can we recruit new Teen Advisory Board members?
- Updating TAB Member/Library Behavior Expectations: we've had fun times and chaotic times this school year. Let's discuss the expectations we have of our TAB members and update them together. We want to keep O'Neal Library a creative, fun, and safe place to learn and create memories.
- Creating a TAB Outings Calendar: let's plan some TAB Team-Building events for the 2024-2025 school year. What are some experiences and outings you'd like to attend together? The TAB outing must be limited to a maximum of 3 hours. The O'Neal Library is unable to facilitate an overnight activity for teens at this time.
Register if you plan to attend this meeting through Zoom. The Community Meeting Room doors open at 4:25PM and the meeting will begin at 4:30PM.
Not a TAB member yet? Join us! You can apply for our Teen Advisory Board through the online application. Young Adult Librarians Michelle Cheng and Gracie Roth will be in touch shortly after you express interest. If you have any additional questions, email teens@oneallibrary.org.
