This free, eight-week course will provide an introduction to American Sign Language. Classes meet via Zoom. Registration is required.
According the the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, "American Sign Language is a manual language distinct from spoken English. It has its own syntax and grammar, and is the second most common language in the United States."
O'Neal Library is pleased to provide a free, eight-week course on American Sign Language in which we will learn basic signs and techniques, additional resources, and a little bit about Deaf culture, all taught by an instructor from the Alabama Institute for the Deaf in Talladega.
Classes are live with the instructor via Zoom om Tuesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Don't worry if you miss a class, we record and archive each session so it can be accessed at any time.
Registering for the course will automatically register you for the entire eight weeks.
