GSS meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30pm in 2nd floor Quiet Room AND online on Zoom. If you'd prefer to attend online, register your email to receive a Zoom meeting link the morning of the event.
January 9 - "Killings" by Andre Dubus, pg 595 in "Adaptations," led by Ron, adapted to In the Bedroom (2001). The film is available for streaming on Hoopla and for check out on DVD in the library system. It is also available to rent on any number of streaming platforms.
February 13 - "The Basement Room" by Graham Greene, pg 430 in "Adaptations," led by Bob, adapted to The Fallen Idol (1948). The film is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services.
March 13 - "Babylon Revisited" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, pg 383 in "Adaptations," led by Joanne, adapted to The Last Time I Saw Paris (1954). The film is available on DVD in the library system, as well as on Kanopy and Hoopla. It is available to stream free for Amazon Prime members.
April 10 - "Shoeless Joe Jackson Comes to Iowa" by W.P. Kinsella, pg 511 in "Adaptation,s" led by Bill, adapted to Field of Dreams (1989). The film is available on DVD and Bluray in the library system and can by rented on Amazon Prime Video.
May 8 - "Stage to Lordsburg" by Ernest Haycox, pg 218 in "Adaptations," led by Holley, adapted to Stagecoach (1939). The film is available on DVD in the library system, as well as on Kanopy and Hoopla. It is available to stream free for Amazon Prime members.
June 12 - "The Wisdom of Eve" by Mary Orr, pg 284 in "Adaptations," led by Samuel, adapted to All About Eve (1950). The film is available on DVD and Bluray in the library system and can by rented on Amazon Prime Video.
July 10 - "The Volunteer" by Lucinda Nelson Dhavan, pg 137 in "One World," led by Carol.
