JOIN US IN-PERSON OR VIRTUALLY FOR AN EVENING WITH THE AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR OTTESSA MOSHFEGH!
Under the Mountain returns to the O’Neal Library on Saturday, September 16 at 7:00pm, for an evening with the New York Times bestselling author Ottessa Moshfegh!
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Moshfegh has lived and worked in New York City, China, and southern California. She received her BA in English from Barnard College and her MFA from Brown University. From 2013 to 2015 she was a Wallace Stegner Fellow in fiction at Stanford University.
Eileen, her first novel, was shortlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Man Booker Prize, and won the PEN/Hemingway Award for debut fiction. My Year of Rest and Relaxation, Death in Her Hands, and Lapvona, her next three novels, were New York Times bestsellers. She is also the author of the short story collection Homesick for Another World and a novella, McGlue.
Whether writing about drug-addled socialites in the days before the September 11th terrorist attacks or about desperate medieval peasants under the rule of a debauched feudal lord, Moshfegh’s fiction is characterized by her macabre wit, her unflinching lack of sentimentality, and her darkly splendorous imagination.
Doors at 6:30 pm, event begins at 7:00 pm.
This event is FREE and open to the public, followed by a Q&A and book signing.
Reserve your seat today for a chance to win a signed book by Moshfegh!
