On August 21, 2023, TVs of Terror and Under the Mountain are proud to kick off the 25th annual Sidewalk Film Festival week with a FREE screening of the legendary arthouse nightmare, Andrzej Zulawski’s POSSESSION! 

Set in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, infused with Cold War-era paranoia and tension, POSSESSION is one of the most tortured portraits of a disintegrating marriage ever presented on screen. Visionary director Andrzej Zulawski masterfully blends horror and thriller conventions into an utterly unique cinema experience drawing on his own traumatic divorce and creative blacklisting in his native Poland. Spy Mark (Sam Neil) returns to West Berlin after a mission to find that his wife Anna (Isabelle Adjani) wants a divorce. She is having an affair, but insists that isn't the reason. When Mark hires a private detective to get to the truth, an even more disturbing secret is uncovered. POSSESSION is a descent into a nightmarish maze of jealousy, carnality, insanity, terror and murder, where identity and reality are almost impossible to distinguish.

TVs of Terror is a VHS horror/cult screening collective based in Birmingham, AL, and hosted by Nick Campbell and Chayse Porter. Nick is taller than Chayse and is sometimes funny; but Chayse can bench more than Nick can (and probably can bench Nick himself), and has a healthier and longer standing relationship with mustaches than Nick ever will.

Under the Mountain is a monthly horror movie screening and author event series based out of the O’Neal Public Library, but it’s also more than that—it’s a celebration of all things strange and eerie in the arts, hosted by the library’s #1 ghoul, Anthony Vacca.
